April and May bring the spring cobia run right to the beaches and inlets of eastern North Carolina. These bruisers can weigh up to 80-pounds, and 20-40 pound fish are commonplace. Cobia are known to cruise the surface, often in schools, and sight casting opportunities are available when the weather allows. Cobia are excellent table fare, and are one of the strongest fighting fish you can find pound-for-pound. Full day trips are a must for chasing cobia, so book early for late April and May. During the summer we also find cobia at the nearshore wrecks and reefs out of Bogue Inlet fishing live and dead baits.
