Juvenile Black Drum from 2-15 pounds inhabit our waters from May through December. They are excellent table fare and a very good fight on light tackle. The summer months of July, August, and September are the prime months to target these fish. They are suckers for live shrimp and fiddler crabs, and can be found near shallow oyster rocks, as well as around piling structure like docks and bridges. When these schooling fish show up, they are usually running in packs, making for an easy cooler full of fillets.
